Civil War Dance

I'm so sorry that it's taken me so long to get this post out!  The dance was last Saturday, and now, it's over half a week since then! :P  Sorry about that!

So...this dance was put on by the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, WA.  My family and I don't go there (anymore...we used to, about 10 years ago), but our friends invited us and we know a lot of people from there anyway.  They have, at least, a couple dances a year, and this was the first one of this year! :)  Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the others!

Not everyone was authentically dressed, but...what did it matter?  Just so long as us girls wore a nice, puffy, beautiful dress, and the guys were dressed *nicely* - you're dancing! :)

We also had dance cards at this ball - something that I've always thought dances should have!  They are so neat - and you get to keep them, you know! :)  Oh, and at this dance, before asking the girls if they would like to dance, the guys have to ask her dad. :)  In my case (since Dad didn't go...he got home from work late that night :( ), the guys who wanted to dance with me, asked Mother! :)  I had 5 requests, but could only dance 4 of them.  But actually, some of the dances, Daniel (the guy in charge of the music/dance steps/etc.) just 'combined' with another one.  Like, we'd dance the Virginia Reel and then everyone kept their partners and did Mary's Wedding.  So, in all, I dance 7 of the...about a dozen, dances. :)  Very fun!!

Below are some pics - but most of them didn't turn out well! :(  These were on Mother's camera and Lydia took most of them.  That might be the why - because she doesn't really know how to use this [new] one, but sometimes, even on my camera, these weird spots appear on the pictures.  It usually means the lens are dirty, but even if we washed them, these weird spots appeared. :P  Oh well.  At least you can see MOST of the picture! :)  Enjoy!

Everyone dancing 'Mary's Wedding'

I really like this one! :)

And this one too!  The lights do some neat effects in it.

Never knew you lived in the Pacific Northwest. I only live a couple hours from Vancouver!

The dance looks like it was tons of fun! I've done the Virginia Reel, when our homeschool group organized some Contra Dancing. Lots of fun!

Everyones dresses are so beautiful!

Aww, what fun! :D Civil War balls are such a delight aren't they? ;) We have been to a few...so much fun! :) So glad you were able to go! :) I love that about asking the dad's (or mom's) for the dance with the daughters. :) Very good. ;)

Love and Hugs!
