A Review of Mikeschair's - selt-titled debut album

Okay, Mikeschair has gotta be one of the best all guy Christian bands out there!!  I just love these guys!  They are so God-centered, all their songs are meaningful and they just have a heart for the LORD that is so awesome to see.  And you know those albums that you don’t have a favorite song on?  Yeah, their CD is like that for me. :)  I love rockin’ out to it, too. ;)

Outside of Me –

A song about needing on Jesus.  He is the reason we are living and the reason we should be living for.

Straight to Your Heart -

I love the arrangement of this song!!  And there's this really cool techno part that I just...really like. :D haha  This song is about doing anything to 'get to' God.  'I'm not gonna stop till I reach You'.

Back To Life –

About being in that monotonous time in your life, when you feel like you’re not really living for anything.  Just going through your daily stuff without really enjoying any of it.  Just going through the motions.  Like you’re not even living! 

‘Come on, I need to breathe again.  Come down and move me from where I’ve been.  Reach inside and bring me back to life.’  Only Jesus can do that, amen?

Can’t Take Away –

Probably one of my favorite songs on this album.

‘You can take away everything that I’ve been holding.  You can take away the sun.  You can take away the very air that I’ve been breathing, but you can’t take away my God.’

Isn’t that awesome to think of?  Man can only do so much to us…but they can never take away what’s inside of us.  And even if they think killing us will stop our belief, death only takes us to bliss!! <3

Let the Waters Rise –

This was the first song that I heard from Mikeschair…and is always going to be one of my favorites.  And I first heard it when my family and I were going through this very hard time.  God knows exactly what songs to put in your path, doesn’t He? :)

I remember this one testimony that I heard/read about from this family.  Whenever I hear this song, I think of them.  So…I guess this family lived near a river.  There was only a hill that separated them from this river, and one day, there was a flooding, and the river rose so high that it actually came over this hill and flooded the family’s entire home.  One of the daughters drowned.  And her sister had been baptized in that same river only the year before.

‘There’s a raging sea right in front of me.  Wants to pull me in, bring me to my knees.  So let the waters rise, if You want them to.  I will follow You, I will follow You.’

Hallelujah -

A beautiful worship song!

Fight the Feeling - 

Whenever I hear this song, I think of 'Okay, 'the feeling' that they're referring to is sin.'  And in this song, they are saying 'if you can't fight the feeling, just give into healing'.  Because God is there to wash you clean. 

Silhouette –

I don’t think there’s any specific way to describe this song.  It’s about…God.

Otherside - 

Talking about leaving sin and this world 'behind' and moving to the otherside.  'Cause I wanna live on the otherside...and swim in the Jordan'.

Keep Changing The World –

Okay, another favorite of this album, but…okay, you might think this is kinda weird, but…when I listen to this song, I add in to it.  Like, I add extra notes.  I think they should’ve written it the way I sing it. ;) haha  It just sounds better!
Anyway, a fabulous song!  I’m including the music video here…I think I’ve posted it for Music Video Monday before, but…here it is again.  I love this song!

Here With Me -

Oh this song just gives me goose bumps!  God is always here for us, even when 'my world is crashing down'...'I will stand knowing you are here with me'.  We can do all things through Him who strengthens us...and He is always here to hold us up.
