Update and Prayer Request...

Dear Bloggy Readers…

How are you all doing today? :)  Anything I can pray for you about?  I’ll share a prayer request of my own at the end of this post.  I’d really, really appreciate if you prayed for me…

Well, I realized that I hadn’t give y’all an update on how my PRC fundraiser dance that I hosted last Friday!!
I’ll start at the beginning…

The dance was supposed to start at 6PM.  So Noah, my cousin Hani (who was spending the night), and I left home at about 3.  See, it takes over an hour to get to the church where the dance was going to be (I purposely had it at this church, because it that pretty close for the friends who were planning on coming, so…), AND we knew that we’d probably run into traffic.
Which we did. :P
We ended up not getting at the church till a little after 6PM.  But my amazing friend, Elisa, was able to get there on time (she lives just 5 blocks from the church :) as did her sister, Shay.  The church had their dance hall set up with tables and chairs for the following Sunday’s potluck, so we actually had to ‘tear down’ everything for the dance.  So chairs went out.  Then table clothes.  Then tables.  Then we had to set out the finger food(s).  And by the time we were ready to start dancing, it was about 7PM.

And only my friends Bethany, Suzy, and Sam had shown up.  No one else.

My cousin (who, honestly people, I didn’t know what I would’ve done without her!), dragged me to the bathroom to get ready.  I wore my beautiful red formal dress.  (Darn it!  I didn’t get a picture with it on :P) And Hani borrowed my lavender purple formal.  She look stunning in it!!

Then I touched up on my makeup, put some curls in my hair (it’s already super wavy, but I just wanted to make it look a lil’ more…formal :), and sprayed some perfume on.  Oh, and changed my earrings.

Just then, Suzy came into the bathroom (where we were all changing) and I asked her who else had shown up.
‘Not anybody new!’ she said.

‘They’ll be coming soon, Raquel,’ Hani told me, with confidence in her voice.

I sighed.  I sure hoped that they would.

When us girls were all done pampering ourselves up, we went out the dance hall.  Sam was setting put the disco ball (yeah, people, that’s how cool we are!  We have a disco ball at our dances ;) and only about three other people had arrived.  Then my friend Michelle, from church got there.  Her twin brother wasn’t able to make it because he had to work.  And then my amazing friend, Anna, got there.  Little by little, more people filtered in.  But they were all just kinda standing around and I was like ‘what are we missing?’
MUSIC!!

So I told Bethany to get her laptop hooked up.  (Yes, told…we boss each other around a lot ;)  But then she gave me the bad news.

The Wifi at the church wasn’t working.  So we couldn’t go online.  Which meant we couldn’t go to Grooveshark.  Which mean that we couldn’t access my account.  Which meant that we couldn’t get any of the songs that I had prepared for the dances!!!

I felt like disappearing.

BUT THEN, a guy who was there (actually, I had never met him before, but I could’ve just hugged him!), got the laptop working (I think he had an internet connector), so we started the dance off with The Grand March.  But still, not very many people had arrived.  We only had 9 couples on the dance floor for the first dance.

By the second dance, we had about 10.

The biggest number of couples we got to was 12.

Three dance songs into the dance, the guy with the laptop had to leave.  I was about to start panicking, but then someone quipped up that we had iTouches that we could use.  YES!!!

So…the rest of the dances were done with songs from people’s iTouches.  My brother’s, Sam’s, Christophers, and Bethany’s lil’ MP3 player. ;)

After the first few dances, I was still feeling just terrible that not more people had shown up.  But my friends were all really, really amazingly supportive and that was one of the things that got me through the night.  The other was that after a few dances, everyone just started warming up to each other and in the end, we all just had a GREAT time!!

On the way home (we didn’t get home till around 11:30PM!!), Noah said how that was probably the best dance that he’s ever been to (and we’ve been to well over 20!).  It was Hani’s first official dance and she said that she had a blast. :)

A couple days later, on FB, I made a Note and tagged everyone who had come to the dance, in it.  Just about everyone commented, and they all said how that dance was probably the best one they’d ever been to!! :)  I was so pleased.

Oh, and we raised $250! ;)

And now, for my prayer request…
Today, at 2 o’clock, I will be at an audition, in Portland.  I will be trying out for three different categories – singing, modeling, and acting.
If you could please keep me in your prayers about this.  I’m not really that nervous, actually, but I just hope that it goes well. :)

Thank you all so much!!

::hugs::

PS:  Oh!!  Guess what? ;)  I am planning on having a super, super cool giveaway to celebrate when I reach 400 followers!  If you would like to just kinda spread the word about that, and help me reach that goal, that would be super cool. ;)
Blessings!

I'm so glad that the dance was a blast, and that things worked out in the end what with the music, etc. :)

I'll be praying that your audition goes well, too!

Oh, I just thought I'd mention something...
Last night, I dreamed that lots of bloggers got together to actually celebrate your birthday in person! It was so wonderful and exciting to meet you. You never know, maybe that will happen in the future. *winks*

I'll pray for you!!! Oh and just to let you know... I desperatly wish I could be in Portland with you!! Acting is my life. ;)lol.
If you could, I would love it to have people pray for this- I have struggled with finding something I enjoy to do, because the things I have enjoyed (acting, gymnastics) haven't worked out. THank you and God Bless!
