From a Guy's Viewpoint...Noah

Aren't you all fortunate that my bro has decided to go ahead and do an interview for us all? ;)

 Noah

Age: 18
A few favorite hobbies/pastimes: drawing, hiking and reading
Favorite subject in school: History
Favorite book: I have too many to list, but a couple favorites are: The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, and Dracula.
Favorite movie: Can't say :P...because I have too many.

Something you look forward to every day: When I wake up, I want to go back to bed. :D  Otherwise, hiking or being outside.

1)    What are your thoughts on modesty?
I believe it’s very important.  But certain women sometimes don’t realize how important and how careful they should be – even though they shouldn’t make it a high priority.  It’s more about their character.
But it also depends on what God has convicted you in thinking about modesty.  Some are okay with wearing jeans, while others are apt to wear more skirts/dresses.

2)    Some of us feel that we either give too much effort, or not enough, in worrying about the way we dress.  What is your suggestion to how you wish girls would dress?  What do you like to see girls wearing?
Okay, well, pretty much nothing that gives extreme showing-off of their bodies.  I really don’t care…just as long as it’s modest.  But there’s also a fine line of what I think is okay and what is modest.  As long as you know that you’re not trying to be seductive or extra-noticeable, it’s fine.  It shouldn’t take clothes and fashion to get you noticed, anyway.

3)    How do you feel about girls wearing makeup?
If you girls want to, that’s cool.  Because I know that girls really care about how they look, but…just like clothes, it shouldn’t take makeup to make you realize you’re beautiful.  I just hate it when it’s caked on and really noticeable.

4)    A lot of girls worry about looking chic around guys…but what do you consider pretty?
How you act around people.  Your character is the first thing that I would notice about you.  Posture, manners, etc.  A girl doesn’t have to be pretty for me to notice her and enjoy her company.  It matters on how you act and what your personality is like.  Because I know tons of girls who aren’t gorgeous, but I like hanging out with them.  But hey, good looks help. :D

5)    Do guys ever notice changes in girls?  Hair styles, clothes, etc.?
It depends on the girl.  Like how close of friends I am with her and how often I see her.  But besides that…no, not really.  Unless it’s super drastic, of course!

6)    What is something that you want/look for, the most, in your future wife?
Uh…like, the perfect combination of everything I’ve listed above. haha  But also it will depend on if I’m deeply attracted to her.  I will definitely look to see how in love with the LORD she is.
I don’t really care if we have a ton of similarities – because I don’t believe we have to, to be in love with each other.  I have a feeling that we’ll be pretty different in certain respects.
I definitely want her to have the desire to have a family and be a stay-at-home-mom.
Be responsible.  So that I could trust her with things in the home, etc.
Someone who has big dreams, like me.  And who will be a good motivator to me and our kids.

7)    Do you often feel peer pressure from your friends?  In any way, but mostly in the standards that you have set for your life.
It totally depends on the friends you have, but…I have really good friends and usually if I’m pressured into doing something, it’s usually for the better.  I’ve had thoughts that ‘Oh maybe I should be this or do that…’, but I think it was just mostly me growing and changing.  And also, I believe I’ve prepared myself to realize if/when I’m being pressured.
But for the most part, no. :)

8)    What do you consider flirting and what do you think of a girl when she flirts with you?
Well, it totally depends on the girl.  But some things that I would call flirting would be like a girl who’s always wanting to hang around me, wanting to hug me a lot, never disagreeing with me, laughing at every little thing I say.  But honestly, when/if a girl is flirting with me, I don’t really care – unless she’s making a scene!
When a girl flirts with me, it really turns me off, if her intentions are to get me to notice and be attracted to her.

9)    How do you feel about dating?
#1
– It depends on your situation and position you’re in.
#2 – It depends on the two people who are wanting to date.
#3 – It depends on if the girls’ parents are okay with it.
I believe dating has a place in a relationship.  Like me, I would date a girl and make it evident that I want to get to know her better.  And then see if the LORD is leading me to take the relationship a step further.

10)                       If you agree w/ courting, how much involvement from YOUR parents do you believe is appropriate in helping you make a final choice in your future wife?  None, some, or a lot?  Please elaborate on your answer.
I believe that my final decision should have a clear blessing from God and my parents.  If not…I’m not sure.  I’ve never been put in that situation. :)  and I hope not to!

11)                       When you’re interested in a girl, do you focus on her family too?  Do you make it a point to get to know them as much as you want to get to know her?
Yes, totally.  Because I’ll be stuck with them for the rest of my life. :)  And I want to love them too.  I don’t want to get to know them after I’m married and then be like…wow! :P

12)                       What is your view on college for girls?
If they’re led by God to go, then that is totally cool with me.  But if your ultimate goal is to become a stay-at-home-mom, then I think it should be a ‘career’ that you could use in the home.

13)                       What is your dream job?  And why?
Movie directing.  And because I want to change the whole film world into a more well-made Hollywood quality, Christian movies.  But not be pushy or legalistic and charismatic.  Many Christian movies today are looked down upon for not having real life situations, but yet they have good morals.   My goal is to make good movies with good morals and good heroes…worthy role models for Christians to look up to.  Memorable, historic, classic…movies that people will want to watch 50 years from now!

14)                       What do you think the man’s role is in the home – compared to the woman’s?
I believe that the man is to be the leader, the provider, the helpmate in bringing on the next generation.
The woman should be the helpmate to her husband, an awesome homemaker who takes care of the ship while the captain’s away:), to raise and discipline the children (of course, with the help of her husband) and all to the glory of God.

15)                       How many kids would you like to have?
That’s hard.  I always thought 4 was good.  Not too big, not too little.  But I might change my mind when I have family.

16)                       A lot of guys like using sarcasm around girls…do you know why that is?
Man’s best kept secret…which I will not tell.  Sorry, girls. :)  I would only tell a selected few, like my sister.

17)                       Do guys like it when girls are tomboyish or more girlie?
A little bit of both, but there’s a line between what I like.  If you asked me about a certain thing that girls do, then I’d be able to tell you if I liked it or not.

18)           Is there anything that you would appreciate girls doing differently in order to help you maintain your purity?
Don’t look to the world to decide your fashion and style.  Because, as a Christian, you are not of this world.  Make up your own ideas for clothes…but don’t be boring. :)  And if you need help…get help from another Christian girl (like my sister :)

19)           What do you think about guys and girls hugging?
Oh it’s fine.  I am totally cool with it.  I love giving hugs and I hope I’m a very huggable person. :)  But I’m just saying this as a caution…if hugging is leading you to think improper thoughts of somebody, then I would suggest not doing it.
20)           When do you plan to have your first kiss?

Um…there will just be a moment when I’ll know that it’s the right time.  Definitely only when and if we’re steady.

21)           How will you respond if God's plan is out of sync with your own?
I pray, even now, that I will do what God wants me to do.  But He wouldn’t give me a desire for something without meaning to fulfill it.  And also, I will depend on my parents and mentors to show God’s will to me, through their opinion.  And so far…I believe I know what God wants me to do. :)
22)           Do you think it’s okay for girls to post pictures of guys on their blog?
I’m not really into blogs, so…I don’t really care.

23)           What is something that girls do that you hate?
Screaming.

24)           How far should a guy and girl go (in a friendship) before going to the next level?
It depends, especially on how close you both are with the LORD.  Because with that, your decision will come easy through God telling and showing you the way.  And everything will fall into place…your situation, your maturity, if the guy has a job, blessing(s) from God, family, friends, mentors…everything!

Readers, feel free to submit more questions - either for Noah or any other guys who I interview. :)
