The Help

I finally got to see this movie!!  A friend of ours let us borrow it. :)

Dad and Mama watched it one night...

then Mama and I watched it the next day...

and...as I write this, Mama and my bro are watching it. :)

---

Emma Stone as...
Eugenia 'Skeeter' Phelan

Well, I was going to start out this post saying that I 'just loved this heroine', but then thought better of it, because it may have sounded too prideful.  Know why?

Cuz my Mama said that she ^ reminds her of ME!! :) haha

I take that as a great compliment, though, because seriously...Skeeter is someone who I would like to see myself becoming like.

A strong, smart, good-humored, good-intentional, brave woman.

Emma Stone played her part just marvelously.

 Had the cutest clothes.

 A super hot car.

And her hair was ridiculously curly. :P

'No, I don't like almonds.  The last time I ate an almond, I started hating men.'
{quote from the movie}

Oh and I just loved this collage, so...decided to throw it in here. ;)

---

Viola Davis as...
Aibileen Clark

Such a strong character.  I just loved her.  And the hard part about writing a review for this movie is that...I can't really say too much about WHY I like each character because it may give away too much of the movie.  Know what I mean?  So...

Oh.my.word.  This little girl ^ is just... ::sniffs:: so adorable.
And reminded me so much of my little sister, Grace. ♥

'You is kind.
You is smart.
You is important'

{a quote from the movie}

---

Octavia Spencer as...
Minny Jackson

heehee  Minny makes me laugh :D  Loved this ol' gal!

Oh!  And I do not mean this in a mean or bad way...but...she reminds me of a salamander. :)  A cute salamander. :)

'Minny don't burn chicken.'
{a quote from the movie}

---

Oh and Aibileen and Minny are the best of friends :)

---

Bryce Davis Howard as...
Hilly Holbrook

This woman was...a...piranha.
I wish I could just...slap her. :P
I don't understand how people can be so heartless and cold and unfeeling.
And how can they look at a sweet, beautiful human being and say that they aren't human because they have a different color skin???  That just really, really confuses and irritates me.

BUT...Bryce did a great job playing this part.  She made me really...dislike her. :P :)

Oh and Sissy Spacek played Hilly's mother.

---

Jessica Chastain as...
Celia Foote

I.loved.Celia!!  Next to Skeeter, she was my other favorite character. :D
Some people said she was annoying...at first.
I kinda loved her right from the first scene. :D haha

She is a very ditzy blonde...but I could just hug her at the same time.
Something a bit uncommon with me.
Usually, I find the dumb-blondies annoying and confusing, but she... hahahaha  She made me laugh so hard :)

Her hair is soo pretty too!!  I love it!

She has some really cute clothes, too, but there is one scene where she's wearing a bit of a low-cut red dress.  It's a bit...humorous at the same time, though. ::giggles::

Oh and her husband is pretty attractive ;)  They made an ADORABLE couple!!  Just sayin' ;)

---

Allison Janney as...
Charlotte Phelan

I didn't like her at first.  But...gradually...her character changes, and I decided that I did. :)

---

Oh, and just for fun...here are some publicity photos I found of the four leading role actresses. :)  So fun!

I love Viola's leather jacket!

Octavia's face is priceless!!!

Love all the dresses in this pic!!  So adorable!

---

So all in all...
a great movie!!

A beautiful story...of friendship, love, bravery and the moral that: truth really does matter.

I must warn you that there is quite a bit of foul language.  It's kind of hard to avoid (and in one scene...it's a bit hilarious :P).  And there's one part that one of them sort of 'repents' for saying it. haha
There's some blasphemy too.  That is one thing that I really, really hate. :/

Closing Questions:

Have you seen it?
Did you like it?
Would you recommend it?
Would you see it again? :)

I loved Bryce Howard in The Village. Never thought of her as the antagonist...or was she?

No, I totally knew what you meant by 'she reminds me of a salamander'. I think so too.

Excellent review! :D

I tried to post a comment before but then it got lost. I don't think it went through so I'm trying to remember all I said...

To answer your questions: I have seen it...four times! I loved it! I would recommed it but tell them that there is a lot of language in it. And I would see it again!

I liked Skeeter's character. I did get some hair ideas to try since I have curly hair, too. It's not as curly as hers, though. Minnie is hilarious! I love that quote that you put. The face that she makes when she says that makes it that much funnier. I was cracking up when I watch that. Aibileen is so such a sweet person. I like that she makes Mae Mobley (adorable) feel special and a real person since Elizabeth doesn't take care of her quite as she should. Hilly! ::shudder:: She is a good actress. She is pretty and I like her dresses but passed that she is a piranha. Perfect word to use for her. I feel sorry for Celia since the ladies of Jackson won't even talk to her. I want to give her a hug and be her friend. She and Johnny are an adorable couple. I love the music in the movie! I like the dresses in the last picture, too. I would like to have/wear any of those. :)

I liked the movie, but must remind you it's Bryce Dallas Howard, not Davis! Haha. Jessica Chastain is one of my favorite up-and-coming actresses.

As for current movies, have you seen The Artist yet? If not, go as soon as possible. Trust me.

I really loved this movie, but the language is the only downfall of it. :( That is something that REALLY needs to be warned ahead of time to people we recommend it to! It's really the only thing that has stopped me from buying it, to be honest!

The characters were all fantastically played! I know what you mean about wanting to hug Celia Foote! Loved her! "This is SO much fun!!!" lol!
