My New Year's Verse

In the past couple of years, the LORD laid it on my heart to choose a verse (or verses) to be my 'life verse' for my new year.  For example, my Sweet 16th year verse was Psalm 37:4-6:

'Delight yourself in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the LORD; trust also in Him and He will do this:  He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.'

 On my birthday, this year, I watched an R.C. Sproul conference episode with my family and friends who I had over.  Dr. Sproul casually mentioned a verse in Psalm 46 that pertained to what he was speaking on.  He didn't have his audience look it up, but I had my iPad in my hands and decided to search it in MyBible app.  The first five verses, I have chosen as this year's verse for me...

God is our refuge and strength.  A very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change.

And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. {Selah}

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God.

The holy dwelling places of the Most High.

God is in her midst, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

{Psalm 46:1-5}

I love those verses! I learned the first two earlier this year (part of a 52 verses this year per week challenge...I'm a slight bit behind *wince*). They are just so awesome :) Sierra

Love this...beautiful verse, and beautiful idea. I've heard the idea of picking a name of Jesus for the year, or a word to dwell on for the year, but never a verse...I may have to steal that idea! Love it :)
